자주 묻는 질문
How many liters are in a gallon? (US vs UK)
It depends which gallon you mean. 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 liters, while 1 UK (imperial) gallon = 4.54609 liters — about 20% larger. This converter defaults to the US gallon and labels the imperial one separately as "Gallon UK", so you never mix them up. So 5 US gal = 18.927 L, but 5 UK gal = 22.730 L.
How do I convert mL to fl oz and cups for cooking?
Using US customary kitchen units: 1 US fluid ounce = 29.5735 mL and 1 US cup = 236.588 mL (8 fl oz). So 250 mL ≈ 8.45 fl oz ≈ 1.06 cups, and 500 mL ≈ 2.11 cups. Type the milliliters once and the table shows teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces and cups together — handy for scaling a recipe.
Which cup, ounce and gallon does this converter use?
By default it uses US customary units: 1 cup = 236.588 mL, 1 fluid ounce = 29.5735 mL, 1 pint = 473.176 mL, 1 quart = 946.353 mL and 1 gallon = 3.785411784 L. The imperial (UK) gallon is offered as a separate "Gallon UK" option at 4.54609 L. Every option and table row is labeled US or UK to avoid the common gallon and fluid-ounce mix-up.
How precise are the volume results?
Every conversion keeps up to 10 significant figures, then trailing zeros are trimmed for readability. Very large or very small numbers (roughly 1e15 and above, or below 1e-9) switch to scientific notation, so nothing is silently rounded away to zero. All values use the exact liter-based definition of each unit.
Is my input sent to a server?
No. This volume converter runs entirely in your browser — the number you type is never uploaded anywhere. The only thing saved is your last chosen unit pair (for example gallons → liters), kept in your browser's local storage so it is ready next time. The value itself is not stored.
