자주 묻는 질문

How is fuel cost calculated?

This fuel cost calculator works out total cost = distance ÷ fuel economy × fuel price. Everything is normalized to liters and kilometers first, so you can mix units freely: distance in km or miles, economy in km/L, L/100km or MPG, and price per liter or per gallon. Turn on round trip to double the distance, and split the total across passengers.

MPG vs L/100km vs km/L — which unit should I use?

Use whatever your car shows. The US and UK measure in miles per gallon (MPG), most of Europe uses L/100km (liters per 100 km), and Korea and Japan often use km/L (kilometers per liter). This gas cost calculator converts all of them, so pick the one on your dashboard and enter the number as-is.

What's the difference between a US gallon and a UK gallon?

A US gallon is about 3.785 liters and a UK (imperial) gallon is about 4.546 liters — roughly 20% larger. That gap affects both price per gallon and MPG. Choose MPG (US) or MPG (UK), and per US gal or per UK gal, to match where you fill up so the trip fuel calculator stays accurate.

How do I split fuel cost or add a round trip?

Tick round trip to count the drive there and back (distance × 2). Set the number of passengers with the − and + buttons, and the calculator shows the cost per passenger so everyone can chip in a fair share.

Are live fuel prices included?

No. You enter the current fuel price yourself, so the result is always up to date and never depends on an external server. Every calculation runs locally in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded, saved, or shared.
