Fraction Calculator
Enter two fractions, pick an operation, and get the exact answer reduced to lowest terms — with the steps.
Whole numbers only. Leave the whole box empty for a simple fraction; use it for mixed numbers like 2 1/4. Negative signs are allowed.
Enter any fraction to reduce it to lowest terms. Whole numbers only.
자주 묻는 질문
How do you add and subtract fractions?
Give both fractions the same (common) denominator, then add or subtract the numerators and keep the denominator. Example: 1/2 + 1/3 → 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6. This fraction calculator does it for you and reduces the answer to lowest terms.
How do you multiply and divide fractions?
To multiply, multiply straight across: 2/3 × 4/5 = 8/15. To divide, flip the second fraction and multiply — dividing is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal: 2/3 ÷ 4/5 = 2/3 × 5/4 = 10/12 = 5/6.
What's the difference between a mixed number and an improper fraction?
An improper fraction has a numerator larger than its denominator, like 7/3. A mixed number writes the same value as a whole part plus a proper fraction: 7/3 = 2 1/3. This calculator shows both, so you can convert either way.
How do you simplify a fraction to lowest terms?
Divide the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD). For 8/12 the GCD is 4, so 8/12 = 2/3. The Simplify tab does this for any fraction and shows the GCD it used — handy for reducing fractions to lowest terms.
Is my calculation sent to a server?
No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser using exact integer math, and your inputs are saved only in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, there's no sign-up, and there are no ads.
